The ballot question was approved with 6,761 votes (for)
to 4,906 (against) or 58-42 percent.
We can all look towards a bright future for Park County.


The following is the question on which the public shall vote “yes” or “no” on the November 7, 2006 General Election ballot:

Shall Park County, State of Wyoming, be authorized to adopt and cause to be imposed a one percent (1%) specific purpose sales and use excise tax (the Tax) within Park County for the purpose of raising and collecting $13,200,000, the proceeds from which and the interested earned thereon to be used and applied for the following specific projects, and to the extent necessary and allowed by the law, the pledge to or payment of debt service and/or lease payments thereon:

  1. $2,200,000 for the County for the relocation of the Park County
    Library to the Park County Complex in Cody and for remodeling,
    equipping and installing improvements to the library and the repayment of funds advanced by the County for such purposes; and
  2. $7,000,000 to the City of Powell for construction of a new aquatics center in Powell and $2,000,000 for an operation and maintenance fund for the aquatics center; and
  3. $1,500,000 to the Meeteetse Community Facilities Joint Powers Board for the renovation and remodeling of the swimming pool at the Meeteetse Schools and $500,000 for an operation and maintenance fund for the swimming pool at the Meeteetse Schools.

This capital facilites tax initiative has been endorsed by Park County Commissioners Marie Fontaine (R), Tim French (R) - both candidates for re-election – and Bucky Hall (R); in addition to commission candidates Bill Brewer (R), Jill Shockley Siggins (R), and Tom Whitson (D).
